Arabian Prince II by mbinz Arabian Prince II by mbinz
Had to do a re-render of [link] as I missed the glossiness of the floor and walls. I also changed view very slightly and the focal length.

Items used;-
(Daz3v1.2.32 to Reality1v25 to Lux0v8)

Kingdom of Marrakesh by Redhouse Studios from daz3d
Limousine Prince from Daz3d

Kingdom of Marrakesh floor / walls gloss set to 7010 (in the previous image they had all defaulted to 10,000, and I missed the fact!)
Car bodywork gloss set to 9999
Chrome set to mirror material
Glass set to glass material
Headlights set to hyper-real glass, (To prevent the glass appearing dark grey due to a lack of light getting behind the headlight glass, four additional spotlights pointing exactly at the headlights only - were used... )

Reality Sun/sky gain = 1.0 sun black body temperature = 5500, sky black body temperature = 5008

Camera focal length = 32mm
Lux tone mapping 1/500sec, f8, iso80
Gamma 2.2
Colour Space = daylight
Film Response = Advantix 100CD

resolution = 1920 x 1200
samples per pixel = 6130
final render time = 5 days 1 hour

no post work other than sig and banner

Love the lighting on this!

Have you tried the new Marrakesh, just out of curiosity?

Hmm it seems the half of the product page is missing..

"This is a re-release of the original Kingdom of Marrakesh from 2009. This new version includes a new texture pack and full DS 3 & 4.5 support (both scene and material files). The original obj files haven't been altered and will still reside in Runtime\Geometries\RHS\K_of_Mar. This is so backwards compatibility with the other texture addon packs is maintained.

Should you have the original installed, you may install this version alongside it as it will not overwrite the original Poser and DS files."

Hope that clarifies matters :)

Thanks! ...no I haven't, I wasn't sure what the difference was as although its 80% off for previous purchasers, it doesn't actually say what the difference is! I have put in a help request to get some clarification... Do you know? `)

Fairy nuff! :)

Maybe I should try doing the same some time, just for shits and giggles. I've never rendered any higher than 2700 s/p so it may be interesting to see how much of a difference it makes.

It can be interesting to take a copy of an image as its rendering and do so every so often, then load them into paint shop pro or some such and do a compare, that way you can see what the improvements are... here is an example of some comparisons (you will need to download the full size image) [link] ...I also enlarged the final image to use here...

Good idea. I'll have to give it a try sometime.

Can't believe you had to render past 12,000 s/p for the water in the foreground to clear up properly. That's just nuts, lol!

Thanks for the info and linkage, very helpful. :handshake:

yes, it was interesting to see what an additional 114,000s/p made after the 12,000! lol!

I figured that if the glass looked black, it must be due to a lack of light coming through the glass. The spots where very carefully positioned to shine onto the headlight glass only, which meant enough light went through to be reflected back by the headlight reflectors. So instead of it being dark behind the glass the light lit up from behind. The spots were pointing directly into the headlights from about a foot infront of the car and viewed from the spot while it was selected, that way you can see the circle of illumination line up with the glass only. That way it did not affect anything else of the car... `¬) (if in doubt apply real world physics!) :)

This made me smile...it reminded me of my visit to the Etruscan museum while in Rome; there was a BMW exhibit there and so there was all of this classical architecture and a lot of BMWs in the middle. Beautiful work, and thanks for reminding me of that memory.

This looks great! You just needed some glare or something on the car chrome and would have been perfect :D ,but 6k spp
in 5days??? ,What are your specs?

I tried some glare via Lux, but it either came up with nothing, or it had it coming up all over the place! ...I admit I gave up! ;) pc specs are here... [link] ...Do bear in mind though, that speed of the render also depends on what's in the scene, the lighting used and all sorts of factors. Grunt is good, but the speed of a render will vary massivly from one scene to another! (it also depends on the size of the image as well!) ... the specs linked to are in relation to another image which rendered to 126,320 s/p in just over 10 days... (Lit by an IBL only) ;)

And about glare :P ,thats strange ,I think the luxrender devs should improve their techniques and add more detailed and proper post processing like what YEBIS does (YEBIS is a post processing middleware)

If my memory serves, there is a threshold level at which the glare is applied, and I suspect that there are a lot at the same point on here. I'm sure it would work if I had the patience... I have used it before with success! [link] ...although in the 0.8, it doesn't seem to matter how many 'blades' you select, it always renders with three! (to give six points)

PC specs are good but some reason i feel it should render faster,Are you using Hybrid rendering mode?(You could use your card to boost SPP),maybe you should try network rendering

I'm still using Reality 1.25 Lux 0.8 and Daz3; so many people had issues with upgrading that I never bothered. I can do what I want with what I have so side stepped the hassle! Daz4 still is having issues, even to upgrade from 4 to 4.5 has meant updates to almost everything from what I hear! Personally, my time is valuable and I just want to create, not spend time sorting out issues with software. I'm also under the impression that even Reality is not backward compatible... Paolo does an amazing job of support, but again, until I feel a need to update I'm happy to use the versions I am. I am considereing a new PC at some point too, and theat will then have the latest software put on it, and leave this environment on this PC. :)
